Acai is being studied as an anti-inflammatory. Researchers have isolated an antioxidant in acai, called velutin, and measured its
anti-inflammatory effects. The researchers exposed white blood
cells to inflammatory molecules, with or without one of several flavoniods, including velutin.
Velutin was the most potent in reducing inflammatory molecule activity.
