GREGORY CHANDLER-CoQ10 And Heart Function

Heart failure is when the heart does not pump enough blood to the body.

In one study, 420 adults with moderate to severe heart failure took a
placebo or 100 mg of CoQ10 three times per day, while continuing
standard medical therapy.  After three months, while there was no change
in the placebo group, those in the CoQ10 group had much lower levels of
an amino acid linked to heart failure.  After two years, 25 percent of those
in the placebo group had experienced a major cardiovascular event compared
to 14 percent for the CoQ10 group.

Also after two years, 17 percent in the placebo group had died compared to
9 percent for those who took CoQ10.

Researchers concluded that this is the first double-blind study of chronic heart
failure to show that CoQ10 can improve survival.
