Gregory Chandler--Berries for Heart Health
Research reported in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association suggests that eating three or more servings of berries per week may help reduce the risk of heart
attack by as much as one-third.
Berries, such as blueberries and strawberries, contain plant pigments called flavonoids. A specific sub-class of flavonoids, called anthocyanins, may help dilate arteries and counter the
build-up of plaque. Plaque build-up is a major cause of heart attacks.
