GREGORY CHANDLER--CLA

Gregory Chandler--CLA

CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) is a polyunsaturated conjugated fatty acid that is a natural part of the human diet through its presence in meat and dairy products.  CLA has been shown in many studies to reduce body fat and specifically target abdominal fat.

Researchers have explained several of the ways CLA works.  It interferes with a substance in your body called lipoprotein lipase, which causes fat storage in the body.  CLA also helps your body use its existing fat for energy, thereby increasing energy expenditure and fat oxidation.  This prevents fat storage while burning fat that is in the body.

CLA seems to stimulate thermogenic brown adipose tissue by boosting UCP-1 (uncoupling protein-1).  UCP-1 can be viewed as the match that lights the flame for fat burning in the powerhouse of the cell, called the mitochondria.
