Gregory Chandler --- Charter Schools

A charter school failed to meet generally-accepted standards of fiscal management, supporting the revocation of the school's charter.  The school consistently failed to provide the school district with accurate enrollment data, resulting in the school district overpaying the school by $110,398.54.  Additionally, the school failed to file timely financial audits on at least four occasions.

The case is Graystone Academy Charter School v. Coatesville Area School District, 2014 WL4214057 (Pa.Cmwlth.)

GREGORY CHANDLER--PROTEIN DIGESTION

Proteins are taken, by athletes, to build muscle.  I speak on the various types of protein supplements and the digestion rate of the protein.

WHEY:  Whey protein has rapid digestion and absorption.  Therefore, whey protein is good upon waking up in the morning.

EGG:  Egg protein has moderate digestion and absorption. Egg protein can be used during the day to supply prolonged protein.

CASEIN:  This protein has slow digestion and absorption.  Casein protein is often used at night for those who want protein sent to the muscles during sleep.

GREGORY CHANDLER--CHIA SEEDS HELP DEFEND AGAINST CELL AGING

Antioxidants can help protect against harmful free radicals that can destroy healthy cells and promote the cell-aging process.  Chia seeds have antioxidants and healthy carbohydrates.  Chia seeds are also rich in fiber, calcium, protein, iron, potassium, omega-3s, and magnesium.

Gregory Chandler--Fiber and Prostate Cancer

Earlier studies suggest that fiber is protective, but few human studies have tested for a link to prostate cancer.  In one study, 3,000 men recorded their daily diets while not taking fiber supplements.  After 12 years of follow-up, researchers found that, compared to those with the lowest levels, men consuming the highest levels of fiber were 53% less likely to have developed prostrate cancer.  The range from high to low was 30.7 grams of fiber to 13 grams of fiber per day.

Researchers said the greatest benefit came from insoluble fiber, which repels water and adds bulk to the stool, helping food pass more quickly through the stomach and intestines.  The best sources for insoluble fiber are whole wheat and whole grains, wheat bran, nuts and seeds, cabbage, celery, green beans, dark leafy vegetables, raisins, grapes, and root-vegetable skins.
