Carnosine is a dipeptide composed of two amino acids,
beta-alanine and L-histadine. Studies have shown that with supplementation of beta-alanine and L-histadine, carnosine
levels increase in as little as four weeks and can increase 80
percent after 10 weeks of supplementation.
Carnosine is a regulator of intracellular pH levels, keeping your muscles healthy and allowing you to push yourself to the limit all while continuing to make positive training adaptions, new capillary beds in the muscles, increased blood flow, increases in lean muscle mass and better delivery of oxygen to the muscles.
Studies also show that carnosine:
- Is a powerful antioxidant;
- May slow the aging process;
- May cure a hangover;
- May reduce muscle soreness and the effects of delayed onset muscle soreness.
The key to keeping carnosine levels high is by supplementing with beta-alanine and L-histadine. The most effective dosage is 2 grams (2,000 mg) of beta-alanine and 1 gram (1,000 mg) of L-histadine taken twice per day even on off days to maintain high carnosine levels.

When individuals take in fewer calories than they burn, calcium supplements may stimulate fat loss.
In one review, researchers analyzed eight placebo-controlled calcium weight-loss studies and found that dieters who got high levels of calcium increased fat metabolism by 11 percent compared to a placebo. Those who consumed low levels of calcium before the study--less than 700 mg per day--saw the most fat-loss benefit by consuming more calcium during the study. Researchers said the higher rate of fat-burning was equal to losing eight pounds per year.
In discussing their findings, researchers said that calcium supplements raised the metabolic rate as effectively as caffeine. The average amount of calcium linked with the largest
weight-loss benefit was 958 mg of calcium per day.

Research suggests that supplementation with L-Carnitine helps to improve the following conditions:
- Cardiovascular diseases,
- Elevated cholesterol levels,
- Elevated triglyceride levels,
- Alzheimer's disease and senile depression,
- Muscular dystrophies,
- Low sperm counts,
- Suppressed immune system,
- Liver diseases, and,
- Diabetes.
To get these benefits, an individual should take at least 1,000 mgs of L-Carnitine daily.

GREGORY CHANDLER--OMEGA-3s and BIOLOGICAL AGE
Telomeres are the protective caps at each end of every strand of DNA in the body. As new cells form using DNA instructions, telomeres shorten, eventually exposing the DNA strand to damage. Earlier studies have linked telomere length to biological age; the longer the telomere, the younger the biological age.
In one study, 106 sedentary, overweight but healthy middle-age and older adults took 2,500 mg or 1,250 mg of omega-3s per day or a placebo of typical American dietary fats high in omega-6. After four months, researchers found that as the level of omega-3s rose compared to omega-6s, telomere length also increased. Both omega-3s groups also saw 15 percent lower levels of oxidative stress.
Explaining their findings, researchers said that omega-6s are abundant, coming from common vegetable oils used in many processed foods, but omega-3s are rarer, coming mostly from fish.
The ratio of omega-6s to omega-3s should be no higher than four-to-one to provide the greatest health benefits.
The bottom line is that one should take steps to obtain omega-3s in the diet.

Resveratrol, from red and purple grape skins, is an anti-inflammatory antioxidant with heart-health benefits.
Medical doctors wanted to determine if resveratrol would
improve heart function in those with a previous heart attack.
40 persons were given 10 mg of resveratrol per day or a placebo.
After three months, while there were no improvements for the placebo group, in the resveratrol group the left heart ventricle was better able to relax and fill with blood. Blood vessels were more flexible and better able to dilate. The red blood cells were more effective in delivering oxygen and LDL cholesterol levels significantly improved.
The results suggest that resveratrol improves heart function.

According to a study conducted at Cornell University, onions can assist as cancer fighters.
Shallots, western yellow, pungent yellow, and red onions are higher in anti-cancer chemicals than other onions varieties tested.
