GREGORY CHANDLER--BILBERRY AND NIGHT VISION





During night missions in World War II, military pilots experienced an improvement in night vision after eating bilberry jam.  These observations led to clinical studies on the effects of bilberry. 

Researchers discovered bilberry has a high antioxidant content from anthocyanins, a flavonoid with specific affinity for the eyes, especially the retina.  Anthocyanins may provide the protection by limiting the damage caused by exposure to UV sunlight. 

Those looking for eye health supplements, should consider taking a product containing bilberry supplements.

GREGORY CHANDLER-FIBER'S ROLE IN INSULIN RELEASE





A knowledge of fiber's role in the diet is beneficial.  While increased insulin release is beneficial for those wanting to help steer carbohydrates and protein to the muscles during workouts, in times of rest that same insulin spike drives those carbohydrates and other calories into storage as body fat. 

Fiber helps alleviate this process by reducing insulin release during recovery periods, meaning that consumed calories are much more likely to be burned off as energy than stored as unwanted fat.

In fact, one independent study concludes that taking a blend of both soluble and insoluble fibers (about 10 grams) three times per day could dramatically reduce insulin levels, cholesterol and weight without any other drastic lifestyle changes.  This study was done primarily on overweight diabetics.  If fiber can help a typically sedentary population improve their health by leaps and bounds, then fiber has a tremendous boost for those already fit.
